A Dry January and the future

by Reilly Forster

This isn't the first time I have taken on this challenge. Some call it a cleanse, some call it a break, and some call it a challenge of the mind. If you have spent any time around me you know I love a craft beer at a micro brewery. I love the social aspect of it all. In fact some of you I am friends with do to a simple cold and tasty beverage at a brewery.

Normally I end it on February 1, or see how long I can stretch it till. Iv hav gone 9 months in the past, but this year I realized I really enjoy craft beer. I realized that having cases of beer around the house causes you to drink while watching a TV Show, your favourite sporting event live or a movie.

For 2021, I am keeping beer out of my fridge for the most part. Yes, I will cheat and will have a fire night with friends once this COVID-19 world gets a little more friendly. But for the most part I will not have beer at my place, if I want one I will be linking up with friends and family to grab two beers. Savour them, and enjoy the conversation.

I think this is better than not enjoying the art of the work of these craftsmen across the land. Denying my self off something I enjoy. Do not be shy to offer me a beer, or ask me to come to the brewery. Im in, but am taking a new stance on drinking.
